The little girl is dying. She needs a heart. Her parents hang over her bed praying for a miracle.

Somewhere halfway across the country a mother and father have just been told that their youngest child did not survive an auto accident. They are inconsolable. A doctor softly asks for use of her organs.

The mother is frightened. The father remembers a man with soft eyes who gave him a flower when he was at the lowest point in his life. He had needed something to believe in. The man had talked with him for hours.

The parents, hearts aching but lightened, agree.
