The man handed a flower to those who stopped to hear him sing or drop coins and bills in a hat as a thank-you. He handed flowers out to those who looked like they needed a friend. He noticed that people would come by and be friendly, some even asked him his name.

His lady would weave wreaths of the flowers and wear them in her halo of auburn hair. She wove wish rings and bracelets from fresh leaves and stems and give them away to small children.

Eventually people went out of their way to see the two hippie lovers who were joyous and musical and kind.
