While it's heating you empty out on a plate what's left of a box of crackers you found and in the refrigerator you thought you'd noticed some brie cheese.
In the living room you sit down on the sofa, wonder if you dare put on the TV. You're not one of those fanatics that unplugs everything, figuring you have a hard enough time reaching the outlets in this small, overstuffed full of furniture house, it's doubtful an errant bolt of lightning will do any better. But its four rooms suit you nicely and the cellar holds the overflow of things that you've dragged with you through the years that you just couldn't bear to throw away.
Just as you get up to check on the soup, there is a crash of wall-shaking thunder and a bolt of lightning that enters through every window on every side of the house.
