If he had to say what was his best experience flying, Eugene would be hardpressed to pick out any certain one.
On the one hand, his first ventures out of his crib were a lot of fun. He'd hop up on the top of the railing, a baby bird perched on a branch. He'd look back at the security of the nest while he trembled with the battle of joy and fear till impatience pushed him to leap into space. He found he could stay there as well, though it took him a few tries to keep altitude, and the first time he fell with a thump on the floor.
