Jerry woke up when his arm hurt where the magician's rabbit had bitten him. Mean old rabbit; all he'd done was try to pet him.

He got out of bed and went to his parents' room.

"Ma? Daddy?" He finally poked them but still he could not wake them up. He went into Melissa's room but could not wake her up either.

He tried to fall back to sleep and finally dressed himself and put on his shoes and went out.
