One day around four p.m. in the fifth floor offices of D-Data Specialties, Inc. Alice Warwarniac quietly disappeared.

It happened with a single keystroke and bad luck. Alice would have said it was her own fault. She was older and not as adept at the computer as the younger ones. She was shy and single and kept to herself and so when she noticed herself missing, she was too insecure to ask for help.
