{"id":233,"date":"2008-02-16T16:43:31","date_gmt":"2008-02-16T23:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/susangibb.net\/blog2\/?p=233"},"modified":"2008-02-16T16:43:31","modified_gmt":"2008-02-16T23:43:31","slug":"writing-the-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/susangibb.net\/blog2\/2008\/02\/writing-the-vote\/","title":{"rendered":"WRITING: The Vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"drop\">R<\/span>epeating this here from a writing exercise post at CW &#8217;cause I like it; it may just fit into the hypertext on the boomer crisis, though I hadn&#8217;t wanted an apocalyptic bend to that one.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>I personally find that normal with just a little quirk to it is scarier than the fantastical creation of the mind.&nbsp; Anyway:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In the new<br \/>\ndemocracy that took form after the war, when literally the dust had<br \/>\nsettled and with the help of rains that dug themselves into lakes, the<br \/>\nashes were molded into cities, flattened into roads and smoothly<br \/>\ngrooved into parks and recreation areas and lawns.&nbsp; And painted<br \/>\nappropriately white and black and green; whatever they decided looked<br \/>\nthe most like what it used to be. Sometimes an artistic soul,<br \/>\nemboldened by the relative peace and saddened by the perpetual grey of<br \/>\ndaylight sky, might offer to shape some trees to soften the angular<br \/>\nenvironment. These would most often be painted green, but one fellow<br \/>\ndown on Center Street was from the Northeast.&nbsp; His trees always were a<br \/>\nblur of oranges and reds.&nbsp; Very few in this area understood why, but<br \/>\nlet him be.
