{"id":2534,"date":"2009-10-19T15:51:07","date_gmt":"2009-10-19T20:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/susangibb.net\/blog2\/?p=2534"},"modified":"2009-10-19T15:51:07","modified_gmt":"2009-10-19T20:51:07","slug":"new-media-publishing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/susangibb.net\/blog2\/2009\/10\/new-media-publishing\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW MEDIA: Publishing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"drop\">I<\/span> was thrilled to see another strictly online new media publication out of Virginia Tech&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cddc.vt.edu\/\">Center for Digital  Discourse and Culture.<\/a> called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cddc.vt.edu\/journals\/newriver\/09Spring\/index.html\">The New River<\/a> &#8211; a journal of new media and art.<\/p>\n<p>When I check out the site and some issues, it was a happy surprise to see a few familiar names. The Journal was started by Ed Falco, a published (Eastgate) author of the hypertext fiction, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eastgate.com\/catalog\/Fiction.html\">A Dream with Demons<\/a>, and many short stories and works.<\/p>\n<p>Then I get to the current Spring 2009 issue and find the ever interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/webyarns.com\">Alan Bigelow<\/a> whom I had the pleasure to meet and spend some time with at Hypertext &#8217;08 in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Even as more and more literary journals make a transition to web publishing, there are a few such as The New River that are set up nicely for true multimedia presentations and right now, they are open for submissions.
