When Night had walked halfway around the earth to slip beneath its edge of horizon, Jeremy Luther's street was slowly coming awake. Down the street Kevin's mother was opening the door to his room and softly called out his name.
Jeremy's father knocked on his closed door with "Get up, son, it's your time in the shower," and went downstairs to the kitchen where his wife was pouring out coffee and pulling out toast.
Jeremy's room remained quiet. He had turned to look at the moon, lost his balance, and slipped out of the light.
