Now it was almost within his reach. He tested the notion, letting go of a handlebar and stretching his hand out to the lit porch. He cupped the image in his palm. He imagined turning it upside down and flipping it rightside up like a snow globe.

Maybe it was the blood pumping through his veins as he struggled to keep his legs going at an impossible pace. Or the cold frozen fingers of night that he felt on his shoulders. Whatever it was, snow began to fall that clear late June night.
