I am at a crossroads in my life. Having received notice that I would be eligible to graduate with a General Studies degree this spring, I must decide my course—literally. Somewhere along the line I had mentally switched to Liberal Arts majoring in English, without formal notification to the school (I love to remain mysterious whenever the opportunity offers itself), which would mean an additional three courses to comply. Or, I can grab the diploma and run with it—acquire the house, the boat, the cars, the vacations in the Caribbean, the sitting around the pool eating bonbons, have it all—and still go on towards a Bachelor’s. I had been kinda hopin’ to be the Grandma Moses of the literary world and remain primitive, so it has taken me this long to take the initial educational step. Shall I make a conscious effort to decide what I really want to be when I grow up?
