The Great Lettuce Head wonders if students at least make an attempt to maintain ongoing study or at least retain what is learned from one semester to another, or even during breaks such as this Thanksgiving holiday. Actually, even the holiday itself drags out into the following days a bit: linens to iron, sterling to count (yes, I trust my family, but not myself to avoid accidentally throwing a fork in with the garbage), bones to clean, and now I find the tiny individual salt and pepper shakers to be emptied back into the larger vessels. But yes, I’ve also managed to practice a little Spanish every day and do a bit of research for a final paper in Contemporary Fiction, as well as come up with the opening statement that is usually the hardest part to do. While it would be great to get away from at least one part of life’s demands, procrastination results in even more stress, and relearning, as in languages or Algebra for example, makes it more difficult to get back into it when the next semester comes around.
I have at least decided and signed up for the Spring semester courses during this weekend, and it looks like Western Civ II and Intermediate Spanish II will be the plan, and I hope to finish up in summer with a science and math course to finally graduate with a Liberal Arts degree.
So no, Mr. E., we don’t all let our studies languish during downtime. Although it would be a lovely thing to be able to do…
Hah!Speak for yourself. Although, if analysing every bit of life that comes my way (this is a result of being in Mr. E’s class too long) counts towards my student portfolio, then boy have I had a weekend!!!
Count it!
