WRITING: Editing

In dressing this morning I pulled on a brand new pair of jeans (after cutting off the bottom six inches and rehemming—who’s 5’ 6” and a size 4?) and discovered that, while I had tried them on at the store and taking shrinkage into account, and style and fit, I had overlooked a couple details that made these new jeans not such a wise purchase. The front pockets are fake, leaving no room for my coins which is where I carry my change. The back pockets have flaps which were not only a pain in the ass to unbutton while I had the pants on, but are not geared to my lifestyle of wallet in left butt pocket, keys and lighter in the right. How much we miss by not looking at every little tree to see the forest…
