Cannot, cannot, cannot do it. Mix business with pleasure. Live reality and fantasy concurrently–the simultaneous worlds of Dr. Manhattan time. And give them each their due. Working in the shop it was easier—my mind can go one way while my hands automatically work in response to human need. The demanding cloud of swirling thoughts that rained ideas is gone now that I’ve attended to daily living too deeply. The remaining puddles have slowly dried up under the sun’s unyielding force of heat. Even reading now is not pleasurable. Is this my real voice?

Take a break from life?
Which one?
My problem appears to be based upon an obsessive personality, an all-or-nothing way of dealing with life–or at the very least, main course, a little salad, and screw dessert.
If I make my own passion my prioriy, as I did for lo these many weeks, people are screaming (some passively, of course) from all directions; some with legitimate needs upon my time and attention. I can multitask but only within the personality I am presently living in to do it well. Otherwise, Susie Housewife, Student, Daughter, Friend and Framer cannot write, and Susie Writer could give a rat’s derriere about the world except to meet a reasonable expectation. Am really geared more toward 6 months here and 6 months where no living soul can find me.
You could just stop by around 11:00 at my desk before your class and then we could sneak out tomorrow.
🙂
Sure! Unless I’m running seriously behind again tomorrow morning, I’ll stop by and maybe we could grab a cup of coffee in the cafeteria or whatever. See ya.
You’re on!
