REALITY?: Aging

I’ve found it. From CTNOW.com, check this article on one lady’s solution to her problems:

‘One-Grandma Crime Wave’ Includes State

By JAMES PRICHARD, Associated Press

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 58-year-old grandmother with no prior criminal history faces up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday in federal court to robbing two Michigan banks and admitting to 10 other robberies in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

And then see an entry I made here on Spinning last year…

This was originally posted on 10/17/03, but deleted and saved elsewhere, but I will publish it here just as evidence of my own plans:

“This author will never make political statements on this site, except perhaps as a matter of principle or relative to political impact on writing. However, since I believe that no U.S. government in power is ever going to solve the crisis we’ll soon be facing as the majority population ages, and being a part of that baby boom, I have some plans in mind for my own golden years which I am willing to share.
1. I have stayed thin all my life thanks to good genes, so I can easily implement my plan to offset the aging process by increasing my intake of food to fill in and eliminate the wrinkles as they form.
2. Rather than depend upon Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid, all of which are not in the best of financial shape perhaps, when it becomes clear that I can no longer live on my own, I may consider a half-hearted attempt at bank robbery. Prison food is as good or better probably than that offered in a home for the elderly, you have access to TV, libraries, sports, medical care, and you are guaranteed a private room. You’re still a drain on the system, but have YOU been able to secure your comfort for your final years?”

It’s good to see that you are a forward thinker. I’ve been fighting the battle of cholesterol recently and after learning that red wine helps with that and helps you live longer I’ve made that my drink of choice. Now I learn that Pinot Noir is the red to drink to really help you out. The issue is… do I really want to live until I’m 80 or 90? Perhaps instead I should just focus on eating all the bacon double cheeseburgers I can and go out in a blaze of glory?

While the prison food may be decent and handed out 3 times a day I’m not sure how you would look in an orange jumpsuit.

Shoot. Pinot Noir, eh? What am I going to do with the 25 gallons of unknown variety grape wine I have stored in the cellar?

And yes, I do dislike orange. Maybe by then they’ll have switched to a soft baby blue…
