CURRENT AFFAIRS & BLOGGING: What to do?

Just kind of bummed out this morning. I have something typed up for posting and I’m copping out on it because it’s relative to the prior posting. Sad part is, it itself is a cop-out, but I’m even worried about posting that.

I don’t like the loss of freedom of speech. I don’t like the sense of being afraid to speak without having someone jump down your throat. I don’t like reality much anymore.

I’m going to bake some cookies or something.

Being afraid of being rebutted isn’t a loss of free speech. It’s the free exercise of free speech…by your opponents.

That’s a good thing, it forces people to solidify their arguments.

Anyway, you shouldn’t be afraid of much anyway. I peddle in the politic quite often, and have only had two or three people ever say anything contrary to my postings.

Granted, this is likely the result of my lack of popularity, but generally speaking I think it tends to reign true.

Ben, although I personally hate arguing and have spent my life compromising or grumbling instead, with age and college methods I have slowly come into my own in taking a stand more often.

However, in some areas there is still a sense of reluctance to come off as bigoted, uncaring, or capitalist pig if careful wording is not considered and the audience is ready to self-righteously stone you to death.
