As an addendum to the previous post, I find it almost vital to read more and more of what’s currently being published in the top literary journals before I even attempt any further writing. While there is a mix, I need to understand what is being presented and read, what the public is hungering for, where it seems to want to go mentally at the end of the workday. Though my reading time is tight, and my brain lately is not disciplined to multitask, I think it’s imperative that I follow through on an earlier vow to schedule some getaway time to read. I also want a more varied source of reference. Beneficial and necessary to my own goals of writing, yes, but most likely I will enjoy the mini-journeys of the mind and find this both mentally stimulating and relaxing.
