It’s snowing like a mother out there. After freezing my bones all day in a shop that didn’t go above 36 degrees outside of 3 foot circle around the propane stove, I closed up a bit early and clomped through the snow into the house. I’m sick. I don’t feel good. My ear and my throat hurt and I’m sniffling. I’m layered in clothing, and nothing tastes good. However…
it’s snowing on the weekend, which means the old man gets to do the driveway. I can easily run the snowblower, but I hate the noise (which is why vacuuming doesn’t get done on a regular basis). He’s also home safe from Albany which I worried about all day.
My sister wants a copy of the book I put together, and I’m more than happy to oblige. Somehow, four copies of it look even more exciting than that first single one. In truth, it looks no more interesting than a 140-page corporate meeting report, but I can’t help it; I’m almost as proud of it, and maybe more so, than of an archery magazine I did years ago.
On the technology side of news, I’m happy to say that the old computer I fixed is going to be upgraded to 192 mg memory (from 64) and to a 20-gig hard drive (from 1 gig–can you imagine? Can you remember when a 300 mg drive was huge?) so that should make a little kid happy.
On the down side of technology, I’m trying to design a banner for a new weblog with Adobe Illustrator and the little info boxes are so small on this computer I can barely read them, and I, as usual, have ended up with an odd pixel-short banner on two sides–white lines that look horrendous. It’s these dumb little things that make you crazy.
I’m going to go through and pick out some of the Suttree exerpts I spoke of a couple days ago. While I won’t touch pencil to a book, I did make some quick notes on special sections that I loved, especially certain phrases and language use.
And, I killed one more monster in Silent Hill.
I’m cool.
