Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! An idea for a story! This has never, well almost never, happened to me before. I usually just get a sentence in my head and it’s an opening line and I take it from there. But here is a real story idea. And one that may be more appealing as contemporary fiction. It has some social relevance. No war in some foreign country, alas, no freedom fighting or rebellion against injustice, but something that I do strongly care about, and it contains the elements of academics, sports, liberal thinking, changes in society, future ramifications, and a mother and son. What more could you ask for? and it’s all right there in my mind–the narrative structure, the linear flow, the opening scene, climax and the resolution.
Gee I hope I don’t forget what it is.
