REALITY: Christmas Eve

Last minute Christmas Eve doings going on.  Climb up on the roof and lay a board atop the chimney.  Fifteen years now Jim still won’t do it; won’t believe me that if Santa sees it open he’ll come down and land plop in the furnace.  Picked up Old English spread for making Crabbies.  Perfect appetizers for my mood.  No presents here, or so I thought but neither one of us are good at listening.  A box of Clementines for him I knew he’d like.  He goes out to the car and brings in this for me:  a Coconut Custard Pie.  I like this food instead of gifts idea.

And one more thing will show up Christmas morning–underneath a tree that isn’t there.  Two ornaments, a boy and girl dressed up like snowmen.  One tradition I just can’t let go by.

My words to you are not something new or enlightening, Sallie; they are just reminders when you tend to forget how special you are.
