All I have to say at this point is, dang good thing Faulkner didn’t have to submit the first thirty pages to find a publisher.
I pray for dawn.

I could never get through “Sound and Fury” either. Tried three times in my life. Must say the same about Huckleberry Finn. The best Faulkner I’ve read is in outakes by literary critics. Same with Norman Mailer. There’s a lot of em.
Well, Faulkner’s starting to grow on me–though I don’t think Sound & Fury should have been read first, mainly because of the first seventy pages. This is “wow” writing, but it takes some getting used to.
