There are fourteen of them; pen and ink renderings of local barns done by a local artist. The detail amazes me, intricacy reflecting both skill and patience. When he came in, I’d asked him if he’d yet done the barn just down the hill here. It’s falling down and in its collapse there still is beauty, strength in timbers just too tired to stand any longer.
I’ve talked him beyond his hesitation, his natural reticence as an artist. I’m looking into ways to archivally reproduce them into prints for sale. I’m going to help him set up a weblog.
His work will be on display at the Burlington Public Library this coming month. The artist is Norman St. Peter, and he tells wonderful stories of barns.
I am so enjoying your blog … it’s very early or late … depending on your viewpoint (5:20 am) and I’m unwinding from a 12 hour shift. I really enjoy being here… your words make me forget how tired and stressed I am. This is a great barn drawing, lots of talent here:)
Thanks for stopping by–glad I could help take the edge off. Hey, you’ve got some great new stuff up on your weblog there. I try to do with words what you do so beautifully with your art.
