Well, I’ve been just plain bummed out lately about life in general and have desperately tried to maintain whatever positive attitude I had formed when I’ve let others convince me that my negative attitude was doing me in. So I’ve not said much here since I just didn’t feel like talking.
However, something exciting just happened, so allow me to share:
A spider that I brushed off my head (didn’t know it was one, otherwise my screams alone would have scared it away) landed on my laptop, and before I could get him off that, he started to descend into the inner sanctum by scrunching under the Alt key. Terror forgotten, I grabbed at him to keep him from getting inside and, well, ended up with a back leg in my grip. That’s all, just a single back leg.
While he might have made it out again on his own as soon as he realized he didn’t want to get fried, now he likely can’t climb.
Or else, he’ll live inside there and get zapped by the weird waves and emissions and maybe mutate and grow so big that he’ll explode the computer in about three days.
Exciting, huh?
“The Spider”
Short story by the ever prolific Susan, coming to a magazine near you soon.
You are wayyyyyyy above me in terms of reading. Look how I blew off Gabriela Garcia Marquez?
I want to re-read “East of Eden.” It was very influential the first time. Steinbeck……wow – without WORD or PC’s or anything (same for Shakespeare).
Alright! Now we’re working with something!
