Sitting here waiting. For the dawn of what we’ve learned to call today, a step towards tomorrow. For five more opportunities of yes or no that have the potential to open a gate–despite yesterday that brought one rejection. Planning already the plots to be seeded again, to find fertile ground, to know how to water before, weary and facing the snowfall, I lay down the hoe.
Update: Rejection #2 came through today, on a job.
My father has written one book, in Sesotho. It’s called, “Mamello e Tsoala Katleho.”
Or “Patience Begets Success.” It’s a Sesotho proverb that my dad used as the title of his book.
Mamello e tsoala katleho!
Thank you, Rethabile. I’ve never been patient about some things, and waiting to hear a decision made by someone else that will impact my life is where patience fails me completely. I am, I suppose, more willing to wait when the outcome lies more in my own hands. Though writing and seeking employment does indeed seem self-controlled, there’s a point where you have to stand back and keep quiet. Perhaps the patience would point more towards success if it were more carefully applied in the presentation. This, from your words, is what I’ll take forward. Thanks!
