WRITING: Plumping & Slimming

Facing the past in the file of supposedly "finished" stories and finding them screaming for help.  Am I up to the task?  Do I see what they need?  I don’t know.

Looking for arc, for conflict where I’m sorely in short supply.  Building a character to be knowable, reachable, a friend or even a foe for fifteen minutes of reading, a bit longer to bother the mind before you move on.

Show, show, show; don’t tell.

Six stories out of maybe twenty worth fixing.  One hasn’t ended, doesn’t know how.  This gets copied into a new "Save As" draft, missing the last two pages.  Maybe it’ll learn where it’s headed if it’s faced with empty space to explore.
