…middle-of-the-road tasks right now, though I’m working hard to get caught up and not fall too far behind on my dusting.
Finished a project on A Clockwork Orange comparing the film and the book to illustrate the advantages/disadvantages of the mediums. The best part of taking on a project is exploring the possibile methods of presentation. I ended up going with Word for viewing selected text with Sound Recorder embedded, and of course, the DVD through Media Player. It was a fun thing to do and I hope there will be a good showing at the next Narratives meeting where I hope to show it.
Also started working on a short film as a way of enhancing one of my poems with audio and visual effects. This came about when I discovered Windows Movie Maker in my search to find suitable programming for the ACO project. Did a real quickie to check it out, and since it was so very easy to use, want to play with it a bit more before I tackle Macromedia Flash 8, since what’s stopped me on that is self-teaching the complicated interface (or it’s complicated to my brain right now, anyway).
I’ve pulled some images off the web for this, but since I don’t intend to use anything but original work, they are just for ideas. So….
This morning I drove around the Adams’ parking lot looking for misplaced shopping carts and got some terrific photos, despite a brief battery failure on the camera–which I fixed by taking them out, licking the contact points, moving them around in place, whispering a prayer, and adding any black magic I could think of to make them come back to life for the few photos more that I needed. One of the employees was out back on a cigarette break, and to her credit, she finally questioned my purpose: "Are you from the dumpster company or something?" I assured her I was not there for any reason other than my art, but complimented her on company loyalty.
So that’s where I’ve been the last few days.
P.S. Sumbitch. Just noticed a microphone button on my camera.
