Lousy way to spend a REALITY? Friday before the holidays–at a funeral service once again. Came home reeking of a wonderful perfume and wish I knew who I’d hugged to get it so embedded in my black mourning jacket. I don’t use perfume daily in the shop, but when I do indulge my more feminine side, I use Royal Spice. It reminds me of those red licorice Indian head nickles that were two for a penny once upon a time. Past favorites have been Tigress, Antelope, Emeraude, Muguet and Estee Lauder–which I used to spray the bed sheets back in those young and vibrant once-upon-a-time days too.
With only ten days before Christmas and a hundred pieces to frame before Christmas, you can bet that regarding LITERATURE, Jack Kerouac is On The Road while I’ve taken a little sidetrip from reading. In NEW MEDIA, I’m still enchanted and driven enough to keep updating the Recycling video to include each new change. I’ve only E. Poe and J. Christ to draw yet. And maybe, maybe give up my bush and come up with something more relevant for that verse.
My WRITING’s been on hold since I’ve been actualizing visualization and audio. So exciting to be into this side of myself once again. I still have my fingers crossed on Gazpacho for STORIES submission, though I have even better ones circulating through my bloodstream waiting for an accidental glass cut in the shop to bleed themselves out onto the keyboard.
TECHNOLOGY is primed and ready for after Christmas work: new camcorder, external hard drive, CD/DVD drive upgrade for one of the house computers, and Software that rambles into all categories but likely headlines under NEW MEDIA.
In the personal reality of Christmas coming sooner than I’d like, I don’t have the cards written, but the kids’ presents have been sent down south and overseas. For hubby? Nothing major again this year. Money’s not as tight, but once my frugal nature switch is on, it’s hard to turn off. (Except as noted before in TECHNOLOGY. Selfish bitch that I be.) I will pick up stocking stuffers for him, something for my neighbor, and since I’ve been cut out of my family, nothing else in that direction. If I had time, I’d search and get a brain for my attorney, a code of ethics for the estate lawyer, and a conscience for my sister.
Peanut Brittle and Chocolate Butter Brickle need to be made, something for Jim’s office lunch such as stuffed cabbage or stuffed claims, and for our Christmas dinner–a prime rib roast. Cookies haven’t been made until after the holidays for the past seventeen years now.
And that’s it.
mmmm, prime rib. Just the right amount of salt and lots of juice reheated in the microwave.
I went to Barnes & Nobles for gifts (puzzle book for nephew) and looked around for something to read myself on the best sellers lists, fiction and non. Didn’t see anything captivating.
