Well the dawn brought the slaughter of the mailbox to light, and first comment I find on the weblog this morning is about my site sucking and it should be off the internet.
It took me years to get back in the groove with caring about people beyond my own circle of family and friends. The past couple of years have pushed that wall back in a little closer. No, a lot closer. I can’t conceive of someone actually taking the initiative of sitting down at the computer in this week-before-Christmas and leaving a shitty comment on someone’s weblog. I just don’t understand that mentality.
There are people for whom I’d lay down my own life–truly. But there are more and more jackasses in this world that I’d rather just shut my mind down to the crowds.
Behold the jackass… a person who has nothing better to do with their time than to troll blogs and deposit nasty commentary.
As a veteran of writing on the Web, I too have experienced those hateful remarks, to which my response has been: if you don’t like what you’re reading, then don’t visit.
A pox on those people. Anne loves you, even if she is pea-brained and doesn’t usually comment because she’s to busy going “HUH”? I’m still trying to get the hang of See Spot Run.
You guys are what keep me believing in the goodness of human nature.
Pity the idiot who, if he had half a brain, would find something even a 100th as creative to do with his time as you do on this blog. I’ve had the same kind of message show up now and again. DELETE.
You have a terrific blog, and I hope you don’t let that one idiot dishearten you.
Thanks, Barbara. No, I’m not going to let one jackass stop me. It’s always my initial feeling to withdraw–I think we all do this when we feel a personal attack–but then we realize that this isn’t personal because these idiots don’t know how or have the ability to get personal.
