Dang it. I’ve been watching Dennis Jerz (Seton Hill University) post about his playing with Blender and I’m getting all antsy to try it but I’m having trouble getting through the pile of stuff to do before I too can play.
About a month or more ago I downloaded the software and as usual, something else got in the way–I discovered Windows Movie Maker and spent way too much time playing with a poem, taking pictures, Photoshopping pictures, and having all kinds of fun. So I can totally understand Dr. Jerz’s closing comment:
"While I love adventure games, and enjoy hunting for clues through every nook and cranny of a richly realized world, that sort of thing would be very time consuming and wouldn’t really be very useful for the particular educational goals I have in mind. (But, darn it, it’s also just plain fun… I do this instead of watching TV.)"
And all he was doing was designing cabinets! Just goes to show you how addictive this stuff can get. There’s some amazing tools (toys!) out there.
