I’ve posted on this before, but this is exciting: MIT to offer its courses free online.
No degree or credits, but I have little doubt that this will indeed stand for something (as all credentials do) in the near future. One of my dearest friends is a MIT graduate, and he’s a VP at Fidelity. No, these syllabus/lectures/access courses aren’t going to make me one of them, but the resource of the lesson plans are certainly worth their weight in gold. According to the article, the idea is to share the education to benefit all and other universities are beginning to follow suit.
