Well for one thing, in putting McCarthy back and in interfiling the recently purchased books one in the "M’s" wouldn’t fit. That’s part of the reason that this is my next selection.
The main reason though is that I’ve been curious about Murakami since I first heard of him some time ago, and with one on the shelf and one on the To Buy List, I figured it’s a good choice.
Also added Saramago and Kundera to my list of wanna reads from suggestions in the comments. After doing a little research to see what they’d written and what were the themes, I selected one of each author and will hopefully have them on the shelves soon.
Need to get back into some of the learning books; the philosophy, history, foundational texts that I have here. After Barthes, nothing should be too difficult.
I’m planning to read this soon, too. I just finished “Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman”, his collection of short stories. Loved it, though I found some of the stories puzzling at first. For me, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Turning Japanese I think I’m turning Japanese I really think so….
da da
sorry. 80’s music backlash.
Murakami promises to be interesting from what I’ve heard. And I do love sushi.
I haven’t hit Kafka on The Shore Yet, but have read three of his novels. I don’t know if it is a function of his works being in translation or not, but he has never struck me as being very interested in narrative style. It is the contents he is interested in, and they tend to take you to some very strange places! Wind Up Bird Chronicle is one which will never ever leave me.
