I’m beginning to think that I don’t belong in this world, or maybe at this point in time, and that perhaps my records got screwed up and I was supposed to be sent to Mars but for a typo.
Just spoke with my new lawyer, who called me once in three weeks to tell me, about a week after I met with him, that everyone in his office was sick so he didn’t get anything done. Did he get the retainer fee I mailed out within an hour of returning home from our initial visit? Oh yes, thank you very much.
Yesterday I e-mailed a quick "Any progress?" since it’d been two weeks since I heard anything. He e-mailed me back promptly that we’d talk today. In a five-minute phone call, I heard that nothing’s been done aside from talking for ten minutes with my ex-lawyer and that they’d talk again because the file wasn’t immediately available to him.
I get the feeling too that in attempting to establish a bond (lawyer #1 is still working (!) for my oldest sister), lawyer #2 is making me look like a pain-in-the-ass. I told him that while lawyer #1 is a nice enough guy, if I ever tried to make suggestions, it was met with stoney resentment and that I felt like I needed a lawyer to talk to my lawyer. "Yes!" he enthusiastically agreed, you’ve hit the nail on the head!"
Now does this make sense to anyone else that it’s an okay thing to expect?
I’m sorry to post about this mess–even sorrier that after three years I’m still posting about it–but I’m ready to sign the friggin’ house over to my sister and be done with it.
I have no comment about dealing with lawyers…
However, Kas and I will be happy to go shopping with you anytime you want to find a past century to inhabit.
Thanks! I sure wish I had been given a guide in this one.
