REALITY: To Do List

Finish final course and frame degree.  Put back books finished to the bookcase, count: when ten are gone from hearth, hit shopping cart at amazon.com–I’m halfway there.  Iron, iron, iron, take down curtains, wash and iron.  Speaking of, sew drapes from fabric bought two years ago.  Read, read, read.  Write and read.  Finish three stories for our lit mag, set it up in Word.  Remind Diane I need the cover art real soon.  Look for writing jobs.  Look for editing jobs.  Look for any job at all.  Today, an offer:  Come back and be a tutor!  I would.  Except that it would cost any course required to make a student of me so I could be a tutor.  Call the girl who wants me to do fifty mats for free.   We’d hoped you’d donate them, she says.  No, I can’t, I decide.  I’ve offered to do them at three bucks apiece and that would barely cover cost.  In better times, I’ve donated cash and framing for the library, the firehouse, town hall, and anybody else who made me want to help.  But me, I’m one who’ll give away the world unless you tell me that I should.  Call the doctor, call the dentist, call the eye-man too, the insurance is going to run out soon.  I s’pose I should get healthy, write that on this list as well.  Full circle back to starting point:  Finish final nutrition course.
