For the past couple of hours I have been watching a series on the Discovery channel of first, wolves, then polar bears, and after that, a lion pack. Another nature program series. Well yes, and no. This one, Wild Discovery, has been enhanced by computer technolgy to make it much more comprehensive and informational than even Dian Fossey could by living with her gorillas.
For example, aerial views of the area can be separated into grids, color-enhanced to indicate terrain and animal life, zoomed in, out and under, as from a seal’s eyeview of a polar bear on the ice surface above its head. It is fascinating; the real world shown and explored even more intimately by technology that can take it beyond a plain old camera’s view.
