WRITING: Submissions Pipeline

It is good to keep work flowing in the Great Pipeline of Publication.  However, for one such as I, with manic tendencies, the hope is that the inflows coincide with one’s own current state of mind.  According to the cosmic movements of time and space, this is nigh impossible.

With the anticipated 2 to 4 month-response time, and the floating of the suggested 10 pieces of work, it is more likely that one will remain in an emotionally constant state of flux.  This is fine, for we are well suited to this manner of life and besides, a stable mind is not condusive to powerful imagery and dramatic story.  Especially for a metronome of mood such as I or Courtney Love.

Back to earth now, most know of some writers’ oddities–my own general nonconformity to normal was noted in a recent CW class and acknowledged with grace and pride–but timing is everything.  Just as with story, the constant story we create by simply being does require some strategy.

Or, we could just go with the flow and see what happens, and if the pace of the plot slows, ask ourselves, "what if…?"

Life for the edge-minded but security-raised must be manipulated.  Like taking good wholesome brown eggs, cracking them open and serving them scrambled.

  1. Well, as one who’s been on that roller coaster ride many times, of mania when I send something out, and despair when I hear back, here’s my wish that you get the chance to be manic over a positive response soon. I sure enjoy your blog. 🙂

Thank you, Barbara, it’s been tougher on the ego than I thought it would be. Some good news would be welcome, and your encouragement sure helps!
