Good grief. Relative to the post below re the mature worker and working (playing) at New Media, I’m getting all the self-fulfillment and heart-pounding exercise I need.
Can’t believe I’m so hooked on this thing to the exclusion of everything else but writing some poems and stories when the mood hits. But a short half-hour session in the game and man, I’m exhausted from the stress! There is so much more reader involvement in this form of narrative, and not just because of the mystery solving/horror genre; I’ve grown up on Creature Features, Nancy Drew and Poe. It’s the emotional and mental energy expended and dedicated to the story and the character. It’s virtually hands-on, and I’m not sure whether it’s the visuals that make it more involving–though I doubt that; imagination usually would tend to make it more personal, allowing one to customize the character (he’d look like Willie, but move faster I would hope) and the setting (would make the town look a bit more like Litchfield center probably).
But it’s a very interesting phenomenom and quite a fun (and year-shaver) experience. Love it.
