EDUCATION: Attitude

Okay, enough of the noble "whatever you learn can only add to your knowledge" b.s.  I’ve just spent another two days on stats work that does not have to be turned in.  What a complete waste of my time since I have other stuff to do that’s more important to get finished and honest-to-God, I KNOW I’ll never use the formula for finding slope again in my life.  Why don’t they, with the large number of older students in college (which will most likely lower in time as more students these days do go to college out of high school), reform the studies program to be reasonable? The requirements for the older student are surely different than what’s considered a well-rounded and direction-pointer for an eighteen-year old.  Why is that so difficult to understand and manipulate?  The fact that older students tend to be more dedicated, work harder, and turn their assignments in on time should establish the fact that we know what we’re doing and we’ve come back to education for a reason.  And, that reason was not to learn algebraic expression.  Had I ever found my lack of statistics hindering me in the last thirty-five years, believe me, I’d be smart enough to take the course.  I’m tired and stressed out.  I’ve done all the readings and extra work in both courses and just don’t see the reason why I should feel guilty for not doing even that which isn’t required.

I’ll try finishing it up in the morning.
