BLOGGING: Reflections

It is Spinning’s six-month anniversary today:

666 posts (must change this by this post, or is the devil still with me?)
478 comments (many of them mine, because I try to be polite and so, respond)
20,817 hits (thanks to John Cheever’s Swimmer, and my tendency to edit both text and visuals)
76 Verrry Interesting links (see where my day goes?)
50 Literature Online and In Print links
38 Writing Links
Too many bad poems (which only prompted the conception and birth of Talespinning)

Probably time to reflect and see where I might have grown and developed, where I might have failed, and where the future for my writing effort is headed. I do know that Spinning has kept the spark alive, and justified the time I have put into it, even if only to my own mind. Sad to note that yet another blog seems to have bitten the dust today, Dusting My Brain–although I tend to maintain a link that I have enjoyed reading, and worry over and check up on for a while; ever hopeful of a recovery. Some, I am sure, just reopen under new auspices. Some just admitted the time involved took too much away from other things. Some just ran out of things to say.

Hitting the archives might answer some of my questions, may lead me ever onward and plodding along or changing direction. I have discovered much about myself, and the world and people in it; made long distance friends by being honest, and lost readers who disliked the honesty for lack, perhaps, of intellectual stimulation. An essay of self-analysis is already forming in my head as I consider how weblogging has affected my little corner of the universe, and the folks I have welcomed into it. I am not sure where I would post this, if I can even write it. It would reflect a measure by change rather than cold numbers such as the above. Maybe it will come out in formal narrative that only other writers seem to understand. I don’t know.

It is a journey and a journal, this blogging thing, isn’t it?

Congratulations on the 6 month anniversary … you are a very prolific poster with 666 posts! I too was wondering about ‘Dusting My Brain’ and why Cindy decided to give it us – sad isn’t it when one of the ‘daily links’ is no longer there. I hope she returns as well. I agree is is a journey … and nice insights into other journeys.

Thank you, thank you one and all. And some good news, maybe: I see signs of life on Dusting My Brain. Let’s all encourage her by stopping by often and letting her know how much we miss her!
