SELF ANALYSIS: Type WHAT?! Personality?

How does one manage to screw up Toll House Cookies? I guess, in absence of other factors, by stubborn choice: Not following directions.

Why do I always convince myself that a little tweak here and there, a minor deviation from the norm, a little footpath off the main road will still get me where I want to go. I am not a leader, but it seems I make an even lousier follower. Self-inflicted kinks in life are totally unnecessary, yet some of us tend to thrive on them. This is most likely not a good way to be. More interesting—definitely. Involves more time—you bet. Kicks up the stress level a notch—I’d have to say, yes. Engages the brain to a deeper level—hopefully, this is the payoff.

Has anyone contested the Jell-O box directions not to use fresh pineapple? Would you like to know what happens?

Oh well…I still have the cheese and crackers.

Toldya not to worry. I “fixed” the cookies, made some cherry bars, and the cupcakes.

Just wait until the Narratives has their big summer barbeque here; I’m better at potato salad.

  3. Neha says:

Can we have that barbeque before I leave? Oh wait…this isn’t supposed to be about food.

Susan, I don’t know what happens if one uses fresh pineapple in Jell-O but I do know what happens when gets creative and uses NINE eggs in a meatloaf, five of them boiled and strategically placed in the center of the loaf.

It was supposed to look pretty.

    Hehehe.

If it can’t be cooked on a George Foreman Grill, I have no business cooking it at all.

I know! I know! It never gels because of the acid in the pineapple writes Loretta who served liquid jellow at Thanksgiving because she never read the side of the box…..

Being married to a chef for the past 17 years hasn’t helped my tollhouse cookies. They always come out flat. I swear by this recipe. You can make enough for an army or split it in half and eat them all yourself.

Thanks, folks, your comments & recipes have made me feel better already. Loretta, for some reason I just KNEW you’d have done the pineapple & jello bit just like me! Although I tried it out of pure rebellion.

Is this an aspersion on my culinary skills? Well, I nevah….have met a recipe that I couldn’t screw up. Someday I’ll tell ya about muy brillaint idea to add a box of pudding mix to my husband’s birthday cake. You see all the box mixes that say “pudding in the mix”, so I added my own….only I didn’t think to add any extra liquid to the ingredients. Can you say cake as dry as sawdust with a mouthful of cake as dry as sawdust…sigh…back to the bakery! Whatever was I thinking??
