REALITY?: And Technology

We all know that Big Brother exists, and he lives on the internet.

Amazon has just sent me another e-mail with their recommendation as to what I should buy for myself, since it’s a little late for Christmas orders and they figure I may still have some money left and may as well spend it on myself since I didn’t have an Amazon Wish List so they know that nobody bought me anything there. But they base their suggestions on what I’ve gotten previously—which is comprised of just books, the latest being several on HTML, CSS and Javascript—so their foray into other items for me makes me wonder if they know more about me than my reading habits:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Upgrade by Microsoft — Though I’m a fanatical upgrader on hardware and software, I’ve personally decided that I don’t like Windows XP. It seems sluggish and bogged down by a pretty format. I’d probably go with an upgrade to Win 2000 or wait for the next edition (but I’d better decide soon since Bill Gates will no longer be supporting Win 98 which I love).
Woodstock Chinese Wind Gong — Not too hard to figure out that I’ve been stressed out lately, with all the late night last minute ordering of Christmas gifts.
Panasonic ER411NC Nose and Ear Hair Groomer — I think this one is sort of rude and comes under the “even your best friend won’t tell you” heading, but it did make me run to the bathroom mirror.
Suncast GS1250 20 Cubic Foot Vertical Tool Shed – Ohmigosh! They’ve seen the inside of my garage and basement!
Willie by Willie Nelson, et al, Nelson, self-proclaimed “outlaw” of country music From Publishers Weekly — Ah, they know me very well.
