INTERACTIVE FICTION: Education

In finding out that in fact I must take an additional 4 courses to obtain a Liberal Arts degree, it occurred to me that computer media courses were not included nor even left as options in the program. How odd, since computers are so very basic to the contemporary reader, writer and artist. I should hope that this area is better covered in a four-year curriculum plan, and will investigate it wherever I move onward in pursuit of education.

    You should talk to your adviser and request substitutions… I do it for my advisees all the time. Fill out all the forms in advance, and go in with a good rationale already planned out, and they’ll be more likely to sign.

    Thank you. With my tendency to accept authority without question I didn’t think to challenge it. Basically I have intentions of using additional education to apply to my desires of writing in some manner. Two courses I selected in this vein were Communication and Criminal Justice, and these two, of course, are useless toward a L.A. degree. I need yet one each in History, Spanish, Science and Math. While I fully understand the programs as geared towards well-rounded in exposure to different aspects of thought process as well as subject, there may be some value in trusting a student’s insight into personal goals and needs as well. I’ll let you know how I make out bucking the system. Thanks!
