TINDERBOX & HYPERTEXT: WIP
With a couple hours’ of a deadline that won’t get me tossed out of the group if I miss it but is Catholic nun-influenced and ingrained anyway, I’m finding that the organization of Tinderbox is excellent for this 100 Day Project. I’ve started using notes for notes on story characters that are critical and complicated in this particular piece. Just as I’ve found myself planning and setting up writing spaces (vaguely as short sequences that I’ve come to learn is a hypertext way of writing story), I’ve set up maps of the spaces laid out as I think they would best be presented. Of course these aren’t unidentified blank spaces; indeed, they are titled to identify the concept, though they are also indeed very blank (though at this point I’m really about halfway through filling them in).
Here’s a screenshot of my work in progress:

Hey, do what I seem to have made a habit of: be chronically, habitually late. You know the 8 days I was behind? I’ve whittled it down to 3, but can’t keep my head up any longer. Too many small conversations with short people. They have boundless energy, and I know why: they suck it all out of me! You are my inspiration, Suse.

No, ME, I’m your avid supporter. Your writing is impeccable-you’re the most grammatically correct person I know (and likely more the reason why you don’t enjoy my stories–not because of hypertext per se but rather my unusual diction!) and I’m learning much from your character studies by your style.

Complimenting neuroses by describing them as “styles” will not get you treats from my cookie box! More likely a call from some hospital at 2:40 AM to come and babysit the babbler 🙂

And I’d come for you too! And sit by and read you stories. Ya know, ME, you and I have the egos of a pea and that’s a single one split between us!
